Where to find yours for certain
The most reliable source is the sticker on the router itself — flip it over. Manufacturers print the exact default IP, username and password there, and increasingly each unit ships with a unique random password rather than a shared default. If the sticker’s login doesn’t work, someone has already changed it.
Forgot a password you changed yourself
If you customized the admin password and lost it, the only way back in is a factory reset: hold the recessed reset button (paperclip) for about 10 seconds until the lights blink. This wipes all settings back to the sticker defaults — including your WiFi name and password, so you’ll set those up again afterward.
The one thing to do after logging in
Change the default admin password immediately. Factory defaults are public knowledge, so leaving admin/admin in place lets anyone already on your WiFi open your router settings. Once you’re in, head to your router settings and set a password only you know.
