Tip: your router must be on this network. If the page does not load, try the other common IPs below.
10.0.0.1 is the admin address for many gateways — most notably Xfinity/Comcast and some Motorola and Cisco models. Opening it in your browser brings up your own gateway’s login, where you manage WiFi, connected devices and parental controls. The helper above opens it and copies the IP for you.
Logging in
- Connect to the gateway’s WiFi or plug in with a cable.
- Type http://10.0.0.1 in your browser’s address bar and press Enter.
- Enter the admin username and password.
- For Xfinity gateways, the default is usually admin / password — unless you set up a custom one during activation.
Xfinity / Comcast specifics
On Xfinity gateways, 10.0.0.1 opens the Admin Tool. The default login is admin / password, but if you use the Xfinity app, you may have set a personal password there instead — try that if the default is rejected. From the Admin Tool you can rename your WiFi, change the password, see who’s connected, and toggle the guest network.
Default logins by brand
| Brand | Username | Password |
|---|---|---|
| Xfinity / Comcast | admin | password |
| Motorola | admin | motorola |
| Cisco | admin | admin |
Change any factory default right after logging in — it’s the most important security step on a home network.
If 10.0.0.1 won’t load
Your gateway might use a different address — try 192.168.1.1. Make sure you’re connected to this gateway, and that you typed the IP in the address bar rather than searching it. Still stuck? The full checklist is at router page not loading.
What is the default password for 10.0.0.1?
For Xfinity/Comcast gateways it’s usually admin / password. If you set a custom password in the Xfinity app, use that instead.
Is 10.0.0.1 only for Xfinity?
No — it’s most common on Xfinity/Comcast but also used by some Motorola and Cisco gateways. Other routers use 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1.
Why can't I open 10.0.0.1?
Confirm you’re connected to that gateway, typed it in the address bar (not search), and that your device uses this gateway — otherwise try 192.168.1.1.
How do I change my Xfinity WiFi password?
Log into 10.0.0.1, open Gateway > Connection > WiFi, edit the network name and password, and save. Reconnect your devices with the new password.
